Arup Roy, PhD has extensive experience managing technology innovation and helping companies deliver medical device products to market. His area of focus is the design and development of active implantable medical devices and digital health and remote patient monitoring ecosystems. He has been awarded five NIH/NEI grants totaling over $30M in funding and delivering several breakthrough technologies with 70+ patents granted. Dr. Roy spent over 18 years at Second Sight Medical Products, working on projects including the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System – the first FDA approved commercial medical device to restore sight to the blind. His areas of expertise include product and software design and development, product technology planning, R&D, verification and validation, regulatory aspects related to design controls and engineering standards, cybersecurity assessment and testing, device risk management, and IP strategy and execution. Dr. Roy obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University.
